This is a senior leadership position in our Consumer Healthcare organization focused on developing & executing the strategies for respective Brands in the Global Category Digestive Health. Global Medical Leads work closely within cross-functional global category teams, and will lead extended medical teams in the development of strategic medical brand plans.


As Global Medical Lead Digestive Health, the accountabilities of this role includes:

  • Use professional & strategic capabilities to identify critical medical insights & use these to guide global category decision making
  • Ensure an external focus, including regular external interactions with key stakeholders, is prioritized as a key strategic & learning opportunity
  • Monitor & evaluate the implications of the evolving body of scientific evidence
  • Be the representative Medical Leader in Global Category Leadership & Innovation teams
  • Lead the development of strategic medical brand plans for global category products, including through the involvement of local representatives in extended medical teams, creating best-in-class high impact brand-aligned medical strategies for prioritised existing & new products
  • Through strategic planning exercises, promote scientific innovation opportunities across the global category – leverage medical/scientific knowledge to develop robust concepts
  • Clearly define the desired outcome(s) from prioritized activities defined in medical strategies, and define operational milestones to deliver on these medical commitments
  • Deliver on medical commitments to desired outcomes & milestones
  • Key activities include – developing insights / anticipating trends, identified & executing on science inspired innovation opportunities (claim enhancement in close collaboration with the Global Medical Claims Lead, product development, life cycle management, medical evaluation of BD opportunities, local switch opportunities), scientific endorsement & stakeholder management, risk mitigation.
  • Actively collaboration within Medical, across CHC (e.g. marketing, pharmacovigilance, regulatory), and more broadly across the organization (e.g. CMO, CSO/CSU, R&D), to empowers & enables the achievement of results
  • Compliance with company standards & local regulations
  • Build a fast acting, collaborative & innovative CHC Medical culture

Requirements & Qualifications


  • Preferably a clinical degree as MD,
  • Scientific degree as PhD, PharmD or equivalent is pre-condition

Required knowledge and/or experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Medical Affairs in the Pharmaceutical Industry, preferably in a global position in Consumer Health Care or in Digestive Health.
  • Strong intercultural skills to work in international teams with a proved track record in international/cross-cultural project teams
  • Proven ability to develop internal as well as external relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and relevant Associations
  • Strong analytical skills necessary to interpret clinical data
  • Excellent technical (scientific) editing and writing skills
  • Experience in health authority interactions, coupled with knowledge of external medical and pharmaceutical industry topics impacting the registration, marketing and support of CHC products with focus on overall strategy

Language skills

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in English.
  • German and/or French language skills favorable, but not a must
